For most of the android users changing their ROM for re-configuring their wireless network can be a big challenge, because in-case of new installation you will need to wipe out several pre-saved data stored in the device like network configurations and stored passwords. There are many application available in the market for this purpose, but most of them charge a handsome amount for that. In this post we will discuss the method that could be used to make backup of all your wireless configuration that also without using any external app.
the guide works same for every Android phones and also requires root permissions.
Android 2.3 Gingerbread
- First download and install a file manager that provide access to the root privileges. Use Solid explorer, it is good and most importantly it is free.
- Now open the file manager and position off then data, and after that wifi and then copy the file bcm_supp.conf and save it somewhere.
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
- Download the file manager and install it (like in the 2.3 version)
- then open the file manager and position off -> data > misc > wifi.
- After that copy the wpa_supplicant.conf file and save it somewhere.
Resetting the wireless configuration
- Return and save the file you copied to its original location by overwriting the present file.
- Change the permission for the file manager,
Owner: Read – Write
Group: Read – Write
Other: all unchecked
Group: Read – Write
Other: all unchecked
- Now reboot the phone to make these changes effective.
